Frits are produced from various raw materials, fused into a vitreous or semi-vitreous glass. Frits are used for the addition of hazardous materials in a more safer form and / or for the addition of water soluble materials in an insoluble form in a glaze recipe. Adding of frits reduces the firing temperature, improves the surface quality and produces consistent results in a glaze.
